This fabulous pink Paste Silver necklace is 19th Century.

Circa 1800

Steeped in English history and lovely detail all round.

The lovely pink paste stones have a beautiful saturation which in turn give a magnificent hue.

Paste is a heavy, very transparent flint glass that simulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones

because it has relatively high indices of refraction and strong dispersion.

From a very early period the imitation of gems was attempted.

The Romans in particular were very skilful in the production of coloured-glass pastes.

Each paste is in a closed backed gold setting which is all silver.

The clasp has pink paste set into this fabulous necklace too, both original to the necklace.

The old 825 stamp is stamped on the box fastener.
